Sustainability

Nikki Marie Apparel is a distinguished sustainable clothing brand that prioritizes environmental consciousness and ethical practices in every step of its production process. Nestled in the serene landscapes of Sonoma County, California, our workshop operates entirely on solar power, affirming our commitment to renewable energy sources and minimizing our carbon footprint.

At the heart of our sustainability mission is our dedication to handcrafting each garment to order. We offer an extensive size range from 5X to XS, and for a personalized touch, we provide complimentary made-to-measure options. This approach ensures that we only produce what is needed, eliminating excess inventory and reducing waste.

Our fabric choices underscore our commitment to health and sustainability. The main fabrics used in our garments are Oeko-Tex 100 certified, guaranteeing that they are free from harmful substances such as formaldehyde and lead. This certification not only ensures the well-being of our customers but also reflects our responsibility towards the planet.

Nikki Marie Apparel takes pride in featuring original textile art by Nikki Marie herself. These unique designs are printed on 100% organic cotton, promoting both comfort and environmental stewardship. To further minimize our ecological impact, our original artwork textiles are printed to order, avoiding overproduction and unnecessary waste.

In our California workshop, we've transitioned to a fully solar-powered facility, aligning our practices with sustainable energy solutions. Additionally, we collaborate with a textile production workshop in the USA for the majority of our textiles, emphasizing ethical and transparent supply chains. As stated by Spoonflower, "we know many of the raw materials that we use are Oeko-Tex certified along with the inks used. We are in the final steps to claim Oeko-Tex certification on printed products which includes extensive lab testing and documentation of the supply chain starting at the fiber level." See link below on "Spoonflower Transparency In The Supply Chain."

Even our silk scarves are handmade to order with eco-friendly inks on Oeko-Tex certified silk in London. This ensures that our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our workshop, promoting responsible practices across the globe.

Nikki Marie Apparel strives to create a harmonious balance between fashion and environmental responsibility. With our handmade-to-order process, dedication to renewable energy, and careful material choices, we invite you to embrace a wardrobe that not only reflects your style but also contributes to a healthier planet.

We clean up after ourselves

Ecommerce deliveries have a carbon footprint. That's why we support cutting-edge companies that remove carbon from the air.

Together, participating businesses have…

  • Removed thousands of tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere
  • Provided carbon-neutral shipping on more than ten million orders

Here's how it works: For every order we receive, a formula is used to calculate the estimated shipping emissions. Based on those estimates, a portion of our revenue goes to carbon removal companies that have been vetted by scientists from Carbon Direct. Those companies use that money to remove however much carbon our shipments created. Any extra funds go toward the further development of carbon removal technologies.

Let's meet a few of the companies removing our shipping emissions.

Heirloom

Heirloom's direct air capture technology enhances the carbon mineralization process. Heirloom's technology speeds up the rate at which naturally occurring minerals capture CO₂ rather than using energy-intensive fans to draw air in.

Remora

Remora captures CO₂ from semi-truck tailpipes as they drive, with the CO₂ destined for long-term storage.

Charm

Charm captures CO₂ using plant waste, converts it into a stable, carbon-rich liquid, and safely stores it deep underground—out of reach of wildfires and soil erosion.
