NBD for the LBD - How To Style A Little Black Dress

The little black dress is the most essential part of any woman's closet. It's versatile and timeless, but how do you style it? Below I provide a few tips that I swear by.

1. You can have a LBD for every season and occasion. That means you can have more than one in your closet. Don't worry! It's ok to have different ones when you're considering the season and where you'll be wearing the dress. For me, I have a casual cotton one for Spring/Summer, a cocktail one for weddings or similar events and a work appropriate one for networking or wearing when meeting new clients.

2. Wearing a black dress can be colorful! It's all in the accessories. I usually like to rock statement earrings and a necklace to really brighten it up.

OR... rock a fun clutch with the LBD, like this retro pop art one. I found it at ASOS, but it's out of stock! Sad face.

3. Think outside the box with shoes. Just because you're wearing a black dress, doesn't mean you have to wear black shoes too. I love love love texture and pops of color when it comes to the shoe situation. How about these stunners by Sophia Webster, one of my new favorite shoe designers. OH - M - G ! Gorgeous!

She even designs cute flats that are actually comfortable for the boss lady on-the-go, like these...

4. Get the dress tailored! I am not just saying this since I'm a tailor, but it makes the whole look complete. We are all beautifully unique human beings and a dress right off the rack isn't going to fit perfectly. Maybe it just needs a little hem or a lot of work. Whatever it may be, it is worth it. You are going to look polished and it's important in feeling confident and sending the right message at the proper occasion.

Leave any questions below and I will be happy to answer them.
